Good concept. There are not many gun vaults options with this "drop down" function. I like it because of easy access and quick presentation of your hand gun if you need it in the middle of the night. I have it next to the bed and this vault allows me to operate the vault and access the gun without having to get out of the bed. I also have the GunVault GV1000C-DLX and I had to get out of the bed to be able to open it and access the gun (unless you put it on top of the night table and facing you).My biggest issues with this product:1. Mediocre quality [...] but again, there are not that many options with this particular way of opening. Specifically sometimes the lock get's stock open and you can't close it back. You have to poke the lock so it can close back.2. The door opens with gravity so if your vault is perfectly vertical or a little to the back the weight of your gun and ammunition won't let the door drop/open. So keep it tilted a little bit forward. (I would like it better with a spring mechanism that opens the door)

Nice form factor, perfect for bedside, opens to present firearm – exactly the design I was looking for!
EXCEPT – this safe can be opened without the key or combination in under 2 seconds. Without tools or even damaging the safe.
I won’t tell you how; a few minutes of researching ADG on Google however will provide the answer (confirmed with the safe I received). It is a flaw in the design of the internal latching mechanism that appears to affect all ADG safes of this type. I almost returned the safe I received for this reason, but since the crack requires the safe be free and unmounted, I sort of got around it by securing it to the wall EXTREMELY well.
Sent ADG an email asking about the design/security problem and never received a reply.
Summary: Nice design, but extremely easy to defeat (if it can be freed from it’s mounting location). Mount it solidly to the wall (screws deep in the studs) and you will have a reasonable level of security.
