Stefan Diez, born in 1971 in Munich studied industrial design at the art academy in Stuttgart. After a period as assistant designer for Richard Sapper in the US and Konstantin Grcic in Munich, Diez founded his own design studio in 2002 in his home town. Stefan Diez is the winner of numerous design prizes, among them the Design Report Award for the storage system BIG BIN and the Material Innovation Award from the international furniture fair in Cologne.
The Big Bin container in high quality ABS is a multi-purpose storage system. Individually the containers are stackable and suitable as storage boxes for files, toys, laundry, recycling products and transport of a whole range of items. By combining the various elements like building blocks, a stable shelving system can be quickly created: the handle grips on the side of each bin form the interlocking parts for the vertical and horizontal construction. Through a tapered form at the deepest part of the bin, the constructed system swings slightly backwards and upwards making further security of the shelf construction unnecessary.
