Comments about Blue Ridge Chair Works Back Pack Folding Chair:
I am a big man (300lbs) and I make it to the beach at least once a year. I kept having to buy a new beach chair nearly every year (at a cost of about $50 each) because the flimsy aluminum legs would bend in the sand under my weight (unless I sat perfectly still).\n\n Well, I'm just back after 10 days at the beach, and I LOVE this chair! I like to sit at the water's edge - actually in the water - to keep cool while I read a book at the beach. This chair withstood the pressure and didn't even flinch thanks to the tough wood construction.\n\n Also, I fit everything for the beach into the two built-in pouches (towel, book, reading glasses, even my cell phone & wallet) with room to spare. No schlepping a bunch of items (or a beach bag) along with me - it was all self-contained. It turns out the pouches are water proof (just don't let the water level top the opening in the pouch, of course) so everything stayed dry even though I was in the water with the waves every so often hitting the lower pouch.\n\n The convenience of just folding it up and slinging it over my shoulder was fantastic. Everything is self-contained...just fold & leave.\n\n The only negatives are minimal...it took a while to figure out how to change incline positions - which can't be done while sitting in the chair - but, once I got the hang of it, it wasn't too bad. And, on the same general subject, I wish it would lay back a little more. If I am laying out on the beach, I prefer to be in my chair where there's a little breeze rather than on the sand. This chair doesn't ever lay all the way back. A drawback, but by NO MEANS a deal breaker...this is still the best chair I've ever found...and we're talking over 30 years of beach experience here! :-)
