I needed a fan to go along with the 1920s decor of my home. I also wanted a floor fan. I originally picked up an old Emerson table fan at an antiques dealer. The original fans have an industrial-strength heft and quality that it unmatched today. The problem with the original fans is that they are dangerous... the fan cages are really inadequate to prevent a child (or adult for that matter) from putting their fingers in the way of the fan blades. They are also not grounded. The Zephair provides a substantial safety barrier to the fan blades. It is quiet, and moves air around nearly as well as the old Emerson. The room is noticeably cooler. There is good attention to detail, right down to the cloth-wrapped power cord and rounded three-prong plug. The black with brass accents looks terrific in my living room. I have no regrets about purchasing this fan.
