Radiata Pine, better known as 'New Zealand Pine' is a softwood tree that contains many properties that make it very suitable for furniture and furniture making. It has a density equal to that of hardwoods like poplar, mahogany and oak. Its uniform density ensures a smooth and consistent texture and confers its excellent machining, painting and staining properties; there is almost no variation in color between pieces. This dresser is junk! It scratches easily, terrible instructions and incredibly flimsy. We have a crib and dresser from another company for our first daughter. Crib was more expensive but the dresser was the same price. It is made of hard wood and very sturdy. Would not purchase this set again!

I wish I would have purchased the one level dresser without the tower. It would fit easier in the room. It seems solid for the money. We just want it to last through 2 babies and it seems like it will.

At first I was concerned about the size of the dresser - the drawers seemed very shallow - but it turned out to be plenty of room for all his clothes and changing needs and the perfect size for a smaller baby's room. We got the dresser to match the Kalani crib, which changes into a bed for later use, and also bought the removable change tray, with the plan that both pieces will grow with our son. The whole set is beautiful and very sturdy. Construction was as easy as one can expect, although it does take two people and the directions needed some "interpretation". Our baby is being stubborn about being born so we haven't had a chance to actually use the pieces in real life, but the tower on the dresser seems to be ideal for easy access to changing accessories. All in all, we are very pleased.
Service and delivery comments:
Our delivery was even faster than expected. The website said the pieces were all on back order, but all three items arrived much earlier than expected. Since we were having the items delivered to a friend's US address and would have to make arrangements for pick up, I called Customer Service to ensure all pieces would arrive at the same time. My call was answered quickly, the rep was very pleasant and double-checked to be sure and, as promised, all items arrived together. A very good experience overall.

This dresser took a very long time to assemble. Once it was completed, it looks nice and is made of quality wood. Some of the motions (drawers and swinging door) are not smooth. Ours was missing a piece in the kit. Overall, we are pleased with the dresser. It looks nice and is fits very nicely in our nursery.
