Teak is often misunderstood as being a "high maintenance" material when, in fact, it requires virtually no maintenance whatsoever and will last for generations to come. Three Birds recommends DO NOTHING, and allow your teak furniture to weather naturally. In less than a year of exposure to the elements Teak will naturally "weather" to a beautiful silvery gray patina.
Due to Teakwood's high oil content and density, the grain will not "open" or split, which means the smooth, buttery texture of Three Birds Teakwood furniture will remain even after years of continued exposure. The only maintenance recommended is an occasional cleansing with a soft bristle brush, and mild detergent and water blend.
If you prefer the warm, rich, wood tones of natural teak, or would like to " revive" already weathered teak to "like new" condition, then we suggest Three Birds Teak Care Products:

About Three Birds and Teak
Teak is a very hard, densely grained wood with very high oil content. The unique combination of these characteristics makes teakwood naturally resistant to moisture, rot, warping, shrinking, splintering, insects, fungus, marine borers and termites making it an ideal material for the production of outdoor furniture.
Three Birds is committed to providing teakwood outdoor furniture of the highest standard. They accept only Grade A, Plantation Grown Teak Timber from government managed plantations in the production of their furniture. All of the Teakwood used in their products is kiln dried prior to production. Their products are designed using mortise and tenon joinery with locking wood dowels.
Where hardware is necessary, it is of the highest quality brass or, where unseen or internal, or where extra strength is needed, stainless steel.
While color and grain of each piece of Three Birds furniture might vary, they ensure consistency within the piece by selecting timber of similar color and grain on a piece by piece basis.
The furniture is then hand finished to a smooth, "polished" finish using only fine abrasive materials; no oils or waxes are applied to achieve the finish of Three Birds Teakwood furniture prior to delivery to customers.
